about

Improvised electronic theme music recorded for a conceptual sonic radio play about childbirth by Alaskan synthesiser trio Clone.
Originally broadcast as a one-off transmission for electronic harmonicist Gary Sloan’s Import Hour show on Anchorage radio station KGOT FM. One of the rarest recordings in the very limited line of Clone breadcrumbs (alongside the two very rare Harmonitalk and Nightraid privately pressed LPs) this rescued session comes from Sloan’s own time capsule of C60 compact cassettes used to document this unlikely synthesised wing of an untravelled North American micro industry.

Fusing influences ranging from Klaus Schulze to Suzanne Ciani these recordings embody genuine DIY aesthetics out of necessity. Utilising electronic instruments and effects such as the ARP 2600, ARP Odyssey, Polymoog, harmonica/synthesiser interface, Eventide Omnipressor and Roland vocoder these recordings mark the domestication of the synthesiser while pushing the concept of extreme American outsider music to its furthest geographical limits.
